There are 25 workforce planning areas in communities across Ontario. These boards conduct local research and work with community partners in local labour market projects.
Each board is responsible for the community it serves and addresses their individual labour market concerns in their own unique manner as each community has their own priorities.
As a network, Ontario's workforce planning boards also work together to address labour market issues from a province wide perspective.
The network of planning boards was launched in 1994 under the name Local Boards but as of 2011, it is known as Workforce Planning Ontario to better reflect our mandate to connect stakeholders within the labour market. All local workforce boards are funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education & Skills Development under Employment Ontario.
